The reason that people are afraid of the church here is because of rumors and things that the government have said about the church in the past. So everyone thinks that we are a cult or something and that we worship Mormon... but its always a fun time to see peoples faces change when they hear our message of redemption through our savior Jesus Christ.
I have been studying about the Spirit. I have learned a few thing about the spirit. On mission I have been able to recognize the spirit very well, or maybe I should say I have learned to listen to it. I guess thats what I get for being set apart right. There are many prophets that are quoted in Preach My Gospel saying "listen for the spirit and then courageously follow". Thats one of the great tasks of this life is to be humble enough to follow the direction of the spirit, especially when you don't know the reason for doing it. It applies to both missionaries and investigators, and also everyone in the world. Mosiah states it pretty well in chapter 3 verse 19. Yielding to the enticings of the holy spirit allows us to walk in the spirit or walk in the ways of Christ. "For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father."
So as a missionary it is important to be worthy and able to hear those promptings so we can help people and ourselves. The spirit always humbles me and makes me repent.
This week we were able to find some really sweet people who have met the church in the past and want to learn more about the gospel. As we walk the spirit can just call you to people and if you are not humble you will never see the people the lord wants you to see.
